{Per Anglo-Avstralian Press Telegraph Agency.') Auckland, September 6. The schooner Pearl arrived at the Waikato from Lyttelton, after a very stormy passage. A heavy gale, was encountered off the Waikato Heads, and the vessel was unable to wear away from the land, and was compelled to run the bar. She shipped three heavy seas, which cleared everything moveable off the decks and damaged the hatchways. The captrin, who was at the wheel, was considerably bruised and knocked about. The vessel is anchored safely off the Waikato wharf, and has commenced to repair the damage. The Miltiades salvage claim has been settled, the consignees paying £lßl4, the ship £482, of the aw«rd of £1625 to the Lady Bowen, which is divided as follows, to Case], £943, legal expenses, £125 ; Owen Graham, £Bl ss, crew of the Lady Bowen, £475. New Plymouth, September 5 The acceptance of a seat in the Ministry by Major Atkinson is well received and generally approved of here. The trout ova have hatched and the fish are lively. Gbeymouth, September 5. The harbor works deputation waited upon the Government today, and received a written reply from the Minister of Public Works to the effect that the Government intend to carry out such works as may be necessary for the improvement of the port and facilitate the shipment of coal. The additional vote of £IO,OOO taken during last session, is to be spent during the next twelve months in carrying out the plans already decided upon. The Government will give the closest attention to the subject, so as th.ey may be in a position before next session to ascertain to what extent it will be advisable for them to ask for further grants.
