A meeting of the committeee of the Dunedin Jockey Club was held at the Empire on the 24th, Captain Hutchinson in the chair. The sub-committee that had been Spring Meeting in November, and the Annual appointed to prepare programmes brought up their their report of the programmes for the in March next, The programmes, after discussion, were received and adopted. The stewards and officers for the year were then elected as follows Stewards: The Hon R. Campbell, Messrs H. Driver, Jas. Shand, jun-, F. Meenan, W. H. Taggart, C. W. Cutten, Joseph Reany, Henry Scott, and George Dowse —the President of the Club, Mr John Stephenson, the Vice-president, Capt Hutchinson, and the Treasurer Mr James Marshall, being stewards cxofficio. Judge; Mr John Stephenson, Starter: Mr George Dodson. Clerk of the Course : Mr H. Gourley, Handicappers: Messrs Moore, Dodson, and Reany. The programme for the November meeting, to be held on St. Andrew’s Day, embraces a Hurdle Race of 30 sovs, a Maiden Plate of 20 sovs. a St. Andrew’s Handicap of 85 sovs, with a sweepstake of 2 sovs, a Selling Race of 25 sovs, a Spring Handicap of 50 sovs, with a sweepstake of 2 sovs, a Handicap Trotting Race of 25 sovs, and a Consolation Handicap of 20 sovs. Nominations for the Hurdle, St Andrew’s, and Spring Handicaps must be made before the 14th of November, and the weights will be declared on the 19th. General entries must be made on the 23rd of November. The programme for the March races is a liberal one, and the prizes offered by the D.J.G. should draw large fields for the different events. For the first day’s racing there is the Maiden Plate or 80 sovs, the Dunedin Cup of 300 sovs, with a sweepstakes of 10 sovs each, the Newmarket Stakes of 00 sovs, the Publican’s Handicap of 100 sovs, with with a sweepstakes of 3 sovs. and a Selling Race of 50 sovs. In the programme for the second day is the Handicap Hurdle Race of 80 sovs, with a 2 sovs sweepstakes, the Dunedin Jockey Club Handicap of 200 sovs, a sweepstakes of 5 sovs ; the Rous Stakes of 75 sovs ; th« Novel Race, a handicap of 100
sovs; the Hack Race of 20 sovs, and the Master Howe <'up of 100 sovs. The following is the third day’s programme —Town Plate of 100 sovs, with a 5 sov sweepstakes ; the Forbury Handicap of 150 sovs, with a - r > sovs sweepstakes; the Flying Handicap of 60 sovs, with a 2 sovs sweepstakes ; and the Consolation Handicap of SO sovs. Nominations for the Publicans’, Hurdle, Dunedin Jockey Club, Novel, Forbury. Steeplechase, and Flying Handicap, must be made on or before the 22nd of February. The day of genera] entry is the llth of March
