The Public Works and Immigration Committee, to which the petition of certain immigrants claiming exemption for the payment of their promissory notes was referred, have reported that while it is expedient that individual cases of hardship, arising from sickness oi other exceptional causes, be relieved by an extension of the time of payment or oilierwise. the committee see no icason to recommend any general release from obligation,
