The barque Southern Cross, Captain Roon, arrived in harbor this morning from Hobarton. The pilot reported there was illness on board, and the Health Officer (Dr Donald), went and found that one of the seamen was suffering from the measles, but as the symptoms were mild, she was admitted to pratique. The ships Northampton and Ballochmyle sailed for San Francisco tin's morning. Several of the Catlin's River traders came in yesterday, after unusually long absences from head-quarters. Their reports as to the cause are coincident —a bad bar, heavy seas, and head winds having kept them prisoners at Catlins. The first to arrive was the ketch Huon Belle, which left here on the 11th of last month with a cargo of sleepers for the Taien. and then went on to Catlin's for a cargo of timber. Afler shipping it she was weather and bar bound for 17 days, and only succeeded in making her escape om Thursday afternoon, and having afresh S.W. brerze with her. reached the Heads, and anchored the same evening, and saile.l in on yesterday morning's tide. She brings 2(1.000 feet of timber for G. F. Reid and Ho. Captain Currie reports that the ketch Eliza M'Phee and schooner Janet Ramsay, both bound to Oa maru, left Catlin's River on Thursday. Also that when abreast of the Ocean Beach the ketch passed the barque Southern Cross, steering north. She was assumed to be bound here, and, as the night was very thick and dark, would in all probability heave-to for daylight —O. D. Times.
