EAST CHRISTCHURCH
A meeting of the committee was held on Tuesday af ternooo,/at> St. John’s .schoolroom; Present—Mr Pratt (in the chair), Revs C. M. Watson, W. J.- Rabens, and Mi Anderson. The raintites of the' previous meeting were read and confirmed. . , Leave of absence was granted to Messrs Thomas and Cuff. •*, Mf. fF&rr, architect,' attended to confer with the committee as to the fencing required for-:the Bingsland school, and it was resolved to seek the sanction of the Board of Education; for the erection of the fence as reconiinendedby Mr Parr. j 1 Mr,l£arr stated, that the Bingsland school woul& he* computed, 'and the contractor prepared to hand it over, in a day or two. bi.thC deputy-chairman in procuring a supply of black boards, was ap£JK!<^d.(r//n A letter was read from the Board of Educa-tion-fiaqetjoning the (action of ■committee rd the' teachingstafr. ' The deputy-qhairman reported that he had had an w'itH thC 1 chairman' of the Board of Education with refpreppe to the employment of '<a drawing -m aster, and that gentleman had stated that as it was a branch inclined to sanction any expenditure thereon , y^itßout,;cstjja icßajgO to,'the; cßildrew,; but r had asked the chairman to confer with the chairmen of the neighboring district corn-; mittees. Habenh reported on behalf of the sub-committee of St John’s school that; they had appointed another pupil teacher, and the action of the committee was confirmed, and the, sanction of tRe Board asked to the appointment.
