(Per Anglo-Australian Press Telegraph Agency.) New Plymouth, Aug. 1. Te Wctere sends a letter to Mr Parris. He says—send the boat back to fetch the Europeans that stopped behind, and to stop Europeans going there until he writes again, when it will be all right. The letter is dated July 25th ; two days before the men left Mokau. The men left behind have since returned overland. THIS DA TS TELEGRAMS. Wellington, August 3. It is said that a deputation of Nelson members waited on Saturday upon the Minister for Public Works, regarding the construction of a railway between Foxhill and the West Coast, and that the result was not satisfactory to the deputation, as the estimated cost is fixed at £BOOO per mile. The " New Zealand Times " suggests that auolher line may be found from Foxhill to Tophouse and by way of Tarndale into the Amuri and Canterbury. A survey of the line is likely to be made. Arrived.—The Conflict from Loudon with over 400 immigrants, all well. Ninety days on the passage, Westport. There were unprecedented high tides on Saturday and Sunday ; the lower part of the town was flooded; the sea encroaching a long distance. The houses in Kennedy street are untenable, and more of the river bank is destroyed.
