Saturday. July 25. (Before C. C. Bowen, Esq., R.M.) DRUNK AND DISORDERLY. Charles Windsor, arrested by constable Smith, was fined 10s. VAGRANCY. Peter Romulus, remanded the previous day for medical examination, was brought up, and on the evidence of Drs Powell and Patrick, was committed to the Asylum. OBTAINING GOODS BY FALSE PRETENCES. Phillip Johnson was charged on warrant with obtaining a pair of boots from J. Triggs, bootmaker, by false pretences. Chief-detective Feast examined, stated — I arrested the prisoner this morning at the Rakaia. I told him he was charged with obtaining a pair of boots from Mr Triggs by false pretences. When arrested he made no reply. Detective Feast stated to his Worship that he had only brought the prisoner to town that morning, and had not time to procure evidence. The warrant was at Lyttelton, and he would ask his Worship for a remand. Remanded until Monday. [Before C. 0. Bowen, Esq.,R.M., and W. D. Carruthers, Esq., J.P.] TRANSFER OF HOTEL LICENSE. On the application of Mr Joynt, the transfer of the license of the Papauui Hotel from Caroline Morgan to John Barlow was granted : his Worship at the same time observing to Mr Joynt that the transfer of the license would not affect the remarks made by the Licensing Court as to the probable inutility of the house at the termination of the twelve mouths.
