(Per Anglo-Australian Press Telegraph Agency.) Guaiiamstown, July 21. The weather is severely cold. There is snow on the hills round the town, and it is reported that there arc seven inches of snow on the Punga flat. Wellington, July 21. Applications for 2000 shares in the Colonial Bank were made to-day. The total number applied for in the city alone is 16,000. Possibly with those from Wanganui and other districts there will be considerably over 20,000 allotted in the province. In the Supreme Court, in the case of Steel and Keogh v Hutchinson, editor of the “ Tribune,” in the demurrer to defendant’s pleading in the action for libel, Mr Travers appeared in support of the demurrer and the Attorney-General opposed.
