Globe Office, Saturday. Breadstuffis remaiu without any alteration, the supply and demand being alike inconsiderable. Wheat is nominal at 4s 6d, but buyers would not care to operate largely at this rate, but the absence of stocks keep values steady. Several small sales of flour nave been made, and quotations consequently are somewhat harder, but no actual alteration has resulted. Sacks remain at £ll 10s perton. Bran is quieter at £5 10s, aud even at this price the demand is not brisk. Oats have been selling at 4s for common feed, and 4s fld for prime milling. Hams aud bacon meet an excellent inquiry at B.)d bare, aud 9d in cloth. Butter is low in stock ; sales, however, are quiet at Is. Cheese is in fair request at 6d. Potatoes are less sought after, as the high price checks the demand. Another dull week has been experienced iii the import markets. Very few large sales have been made, and the greater part of business is confined to trade parcels. Stocks have been considerably augmented by the arrival from England of the Rio Logo, on 13th Inst, and Hereford, 14th Inst, the foimer coming via Port Chalmers. The s.s, Atrato is slowly filling up for England, via Cape, wheat being the the principal portion of her cargo. The Ornati is now alongside discharging a cargo of coal into her for the voyage. She will probably get away about the end of July. Spirits—Hennessy’s pale and Kartell's dark brandy are held for I Is, at which figure little business has been done ; second hands are in favor at 8s 9d. At auction, on Tuesday, a clearing sale was made in whisky and Hennessy’s pale brandy, incase ; a large parcel of Islay whisky was sold at 5s 3d, case brandy at 31s. Moderate business has been done in geneva at full rates. Dunville’s whisky has been purchased to arrive at 17s 6d per case. Sugars—A fair business has been done in these lines ; finest whites are quoted at £3B 10s; yellow crystals, £35, The usual trade sales have taken place in teas. We quote for good, Is 9d to 2s; medium, Is 5d to Is 8d i.b. A few enquiries have been made for bottled ales and stout; holders are anxious to force sales at reduced rates; best brands are qa ued at 11s 9d to 12s for clearing lines. Bass’s ale (in b-ilk) commands a steady sale at £9 15s per hhd. A good business has been done in kerosene, at Is 8d i.b. Oilmen’s stores meet with the usual good sale. A fair trade has been done in tobaccos. We hear of a line of best twist (in boxes) changing bauds at IsScl i.b. Hops —English hops aie ell ring at Is B£d to Is lOd; only limited sales had'taken place, owing, in a great measure, to the large stock of Tasmanians on hand. We hear of sales of prime Tasmanians at Is 3d. There is very little doing in salt; we quote £4 5s for coarse, £4 10s fine. Building materials —galvanised iron (best brands) is held for £36, at which figure little business has been done. Cement commands 23s to 23s Gd readily. Slates are dull of sale, the market being well stocked; for countesses, 20 x 10, £l2 5s is the price now ruling.
