Alexander McDonald, who, under pretence of acting for.some Manawatu natives, stopped her Majesty's mail and shot Young's coach horse, pleaded giilty. Mr Travers, his counsel, called no witnesses as to general character. The Judge intimated that the offence was punishable with fourteen yeais' imprisonment, but owing to the importance of the case he reserved judgment. The natives take no interest in the case, as none appeared about the Couit.
