COMMERCIAL.

The Customs revenue collected yesterday was as follows :

There is no alteration to report in the produce market. Breadstuffs are quiet, and neither English or Australian advices appear likely to improve values. No wheat is offering by the farmers, as they arc all busy ploughing and sowing, so that the price of 4s 4d to 4s 6d is almost nominal in the absence of sales. Flour is quiet at £ll 10s iu 2001 b sacks, but a fair local demand exists. Rran is quoted at £6, but the enquiry is not so active. Oats are meeting with steady support at 4s for feed, and 4s 3d for prime milling, the quantity offering being inconsiderable. Barley appears quite neglected, and sales are made with extreme dfficulty. Butter is selling at Is for really prime. Cheese comes forward slowly at Gd, but the enquiry is not active. Potatoes appear scarce but probably the broken weather is causing delays in deliveries. Quotations range from £3 5s up to £3 10s. Business in the import market has been rather dull during Ihe past week ; sales are almost wholly confined to the trade. Stocks are accumulating rather rapidly in some lines, but the increasing consumption will materially lessen stocks. The Stonehouse arrived from London on the 20th ult, bringing a full cargo of general merchandise. Spirits. —At auction several small parcels of brandy have been disposed of at fair rates. H.P brandy in bulk commands 10s 9d readily. Martell's dark 10s 6d ; second brands realize 8s 6d to 8s 9d, with good sale. A few parcels Hennesey's case have been placed at 32s 3d to 32s 6d. A moderate business has been done in rum and whiskey at full rates. Ale and stout command very little attention at our last quotations. A few lots Bass's ale in bulk have changed hands at £9 15s to £lO. Sugars.— An average business has been done in these lines at the following prices : Finest white crystals, £3B 10s ; greys, £35 ; yellow crystals, £34 10s to £35 ; yellow counters, £3O. Tea —Several good trade parcels have been placed at full rates ; we quote for good congou, Is lid to 2s; medium Is 7d to Is 9d. Moderate sales have taken place in kerosene at 2s 4d to 2s 5d DP; stocks fully ample for our requirements. Belmont sperm candles sell freely at lid to 11 /,d. Tobaccoes meet with a good sale at full rates ; we hear of a parcel of St. Andrew's twist changing hands at Is 8d 18. Cement commands 235, at which figure several lots have been placed. Galvanised iron, G.O, anchor brand —Owing to the rise in price of all iron in the English markets holders now ask £3G per ton for Gft, 7ft, and Bft lengths. Morewood's iron is also held for this figure. Several large parcels of Baltic deals and Scotch flooring, T and G, were offered by auction on Monday last, nearly all the lots were sold at from 29s to 34s 3d. English hops —We hear of a parcel prime Sussex changing hands at Is 9Jd.
