TELEGRAMS.
(For Anglo-Australian I J rcss Telegraph Agency.) Wellington, June 24. No eligible tender having been received by the New Zealand Steamship Company for the purchase of their steamers, it has been decided to sell them by public auction on July 24th. Six thousand shares in the new Colonial Bank have been allotted during the last two days. When the Star of the South, the Fijian trader, was clearing from the wharf this afternoon she fouled the coal hulk, the anchor of which drove a hole through her port bow, just below the water-line. She will be beached at midnight for repairs.
THIS BA Y’S TELEGRAMS. Wellington, June 25. The Star of the South went upon the slip this morning. She is to leave to-morrow morning. Dunedin, June 25; In the Supreme Court before Judge Chapman, a rule nisi was obtained to enter up judgment for the plaintiff in Macassay v Bell notwithstanding the verdict, on grounds of exclusion of evidence and mis-direction.
