COMMERCIAL.
Mr H. E. Alport reports the following sales by auction during the past week : —On Tuesday, at the Hereford street sale rooms, a quantity of carpenters' tools, furniture, stuffed birds, &c, realised fair prices. On Wednesday, at Carlton yards, sold as under : 80 good quality half-brec's, principally wethers, at 10s 6d ; 26 half-bred wethers, superior quality and heavy weights, los; 16 do lambs, 7s 6d. 66 head of cattle sold as follows: —45 head 2 to 3-year old good quality store steers brought £3 2s 6d to £4 2s 6d ; 13 heifers and cows, from £2 15s to £4 ; 8 fat heifers, £4 17s 6d. The market was moderately supplied wth stores and fat stock. Fat stock sold readily at recent rates, but stores were placed slowly in favour of buyers.
Mr Deßourbel reports the share market as follows :—Buyers : National Insurance, 29s ; National Bank, 65s ; South British, 49s ; Shipping Co., 12s 6d; Standard Insurance, 14s 6d. Sellers : National Insurance, 30s ; National Bank, 68s ; South British, 50s ; Shipping Co., 20s ; Standard Insurance, 15s.
