Schooners—Maid of Ota?o, Wild Wave, Marmiou, Oreti, Cleopatra, Lady Don, Spray. Ketch—Emerald. Cutter —Antelope The schooner Wild Wave cleared the Customs this morning for Akaroa in ballast. The s.s. Phoebe, Captain Worsp sailed this morning for Dunedin. The barque Amateur, Captain Spence, arrived in harbor yesterday morning from Newcastle. The vessel is bound to Timaru. The captain having encountered heavy weather during the passage, and having lost his sails, and being short of water, he bore up for the port. The following is the captain's report: —Left Newcastle on May 10th, weather being moderate and blowing from N.W. Weather continued fine until the 13th, when in lat. 36deg S. a heavy gale from S.W. was encountered, and this lasted five days. 20th, in lat. 38deg S., encountered another gale from W.S.W. The wind was terrific, the foretopmast staysail and mizen staysail were split, the mainsail and foresail were blown to ribbons and lost; bore the vessel away for 12 hours, ,25th, in lat. 45deg 13min S., another heavy gale was experienced, and continued until the 29th. Hove the vessel to under close-reefed topsail. Rounded the Solander oa 31st, blowing a strong S.W. gale. June Ist, passed the Nuggets light six miles distant, wind light N.E. June 3rd, bove to off Oamaru under lower raaintopsail for 24 hours. 3rd, stood in towards the land, wind blowing strong from S.W. 4th, hove to, wind blowing fresh from S.S.W,, sth, on the morning, rinding the vessel north of Timaru, and four miles off the Peninsula, and being short of water, bore up for the port. The s.s. Maori, Captain Malcolm, arrived in harbor yesterday, at 11.30 am. She left Port Chalmers on sth, at 7.45 p.m., and arrived in Timaru at 5 a.m. on the 6th. Left again at 7.45 p.m., arriving in Akaroa at 4.40 a.m. 7th. Left again at 7 a.m., arriving as above. The s.s. Phoebe, Captain Worsp, arrived in harbor yesterday at noon. She left Manukau at 10.30 a.m. on June 3rd, being unabe to leave at her regular date owing to heavy sea on the bar and strong B.E. gale. Arrived at Taraoaki 6 a.m. 4th, left again at 8.30 a.m., arrived at Nelson 11.30 p.m. on the sth, and arrived at Picton at 8 p.m.; left again 0.30 p.m. 6th, and arrived at Wellington 6 a.m.; I Left again at 5 p.m. on the 6th, arriving as above.
