PRICES OF ADMISSION TO THE CIRCUS.
To the Editor of the Globe.
Sis, —I have just arrived from Dunedin, and during my stay there I visited the Princess’ Theatre to witness the performance of the Siamese and Circus Troupe combined. I paid two shillings for a seat in the stalls. I see in the “ Press ” of to-day that the charges here are two, three, and four shillings ; whereas in Dunedin, in a warm and comfortable theatre, for which I suppose they had to pay a heavy rental, the charges were one, two, and three shillings. I should imagine that, as the cost of the paddock which they occupy is merely nominal, they have not the same grounds for raising the prices as the Opera Troupe, because anyone that has visited the two theatres knows that there is a vast deal of difference in size and convenience between them. I have found that any troupe arriving from Dunedin, as a rule, increase their prices of admission fully 50 per cent. I suppose they think the people here are all descended from the pilgrims, and consequently never have seen anything before they arrived. Yours, &c., Wide-Awake.
