REFERENDUM IN NEW SOUTH WALES. United Press Assn, by El. Tel. Copyright SYDNEY, Feb. .12. The State Parliament has settled down to business. A Bill has been introduced to provide for a referendum on May 3. at which voting will be compulsory for the reform of the Legislative Council. Tho voting will be on the Bill already passed. Labor members objected to the referendum, which they felt would cost £70,000 at a time of financial stringency, like this. It- contended that a referendum could be taken next election.
