OPOTIKI OPERATOR’S SUCCESS
OVERSEA .MAN WANTS OTHER NEW ZEALAND STATIONS!

Radio Station ZLIFO, Norman C. Guide, Opotiki, managed to hold twoWay communication with South Africa. Contact with radio ZTGX, Air W. H. Heathcote, Johannesburg, was established at 5.30 this morning, and maintained till 6.33. Practically all was copied in full' at both ends , and needless to say, both operators were very excited, as this is the first South Africa-New Zealand contact on the twenty-one metre amateur wave band. Johannesburg and Opotiki have arranged to stand by for . each other at the same time daily to test the possibility of maintainjirig the contact. ZTSX also desires to work other New Zealand stations, and will listen, after finishing tho daily schedule with Opotiki.
