FOB. G ISBORNE A ERODE OMIO. THREE BODIES TO COMBINE. BOROUGH VUASSES RESOLUTION. Definite steps in the direction of establishing an aerodrome at Gisborne were taken at the meeting of' the Borough Council last evening, when a resolution empowering the raising of a £SOOO loan was earned. This is a sequel to the series of conferences between the Borough Council, the Cook County Council and the Waikohu County Coifncil, at which, after free discussion on the matter, if was resolved to raise a. joint loan of £SOOO to acquire a site and level it. It is hoped to carry out the levelling as an unemployment relief work, thereby obtaining the Government subsidy on the £I9OO expended in this direction. The Borough Council will act as agent for the other two bodies and the loan will be raised .in the following proportions: Borough TTtlis., Cook 2.7ths. and Waikohu l-7th. The resolution carried last evening, which had been approved by the borough solicitors, was ns follows :

“in the matter of "The Local Authorities .Empowering (Aviation Encouragement) Act 1029, and Part 2 of ‘The Local Bodies Loans Act- 1926,’ also ‘The Local Authorities Empowering Act 1920 (Relief of Unemployment)’, and the several amendments thereto: Resolved that the Gisborne Borough Council, under powers of the Acts above-mentioned, hereby decide to raise a joint special loan of -£‘5009 for the purpose of establishing an aerodrome for the district, and that the council shall act as agent for the other local authorities for all purposes in relation to the loan ; such loan to lie proportioned as follows:—Borough £2857 2s lOd, Cook Cl 12 s Hs 5d and AVaikolm C 714 os 9d. The balance of the loan, alter paying for the site the .sunt .of £3.100. amounting to approximately £1.900 to be deemed as relief work for unemployment loan, as the work of levelling the ground is eminently suitable for relief works, it being practically all labor. That application lie made to the Government to subsidise this portion of the loan and that the necessary steps he taken to give the statutory 14 days' notice by advertisement of the council's intention to apply to the Local G-ovorail-ment Loans Board for sanction to borrow the sum of £SOOO for purposes as above stated.” The A favor (Mr. D. AY. Coleman) moved and Or. E. Collin seconded the, above resolution, which was carried unanimously without discussion . AVAfKOTLIT APPROVES. SPECIAL RESOLUTION PASSED. A similar resolution rnme before the AVaikolm County Council at yesterday’s meeting and, after discussion, was passed by four votes to two, the chairman (Afr. A. A. Fraser) and Os. ,C. Gaukrodger, G. H. M.orice and. H. J. F. Tombleson voting in favor and Crs. AL Doyle and J. Hope against the proposal.
