SATURDAY'S GAMES. OLD BOYS- WIN EASILY. NOW LEAD IN COMPETITION. DO CELTIC WIN? ERROR TN ADDITION. PECULIAR POSITION ARISES. Outright victories were tho order of things when the final series of games in the second round of v the senior competition was completed at the Oval on Saturday. Old Bovs City and Turangamu each, registered eight points .while Celtic, through an error in addition, .may lucre missed a similar victory, tough oaiy otic run was required and tub whole team had to I bat, ■ jn the second innings.

Old Boys, with .1 lead of nine runs oil the first, innings, declared with seven wickets down for 149 in tho second and then dismissed Gisborne for HO, winning by 108 •uii".. G. J. Robertson's excellent allround play was the outstanding feature of this match, the Old Boys crack making <l4 and taking six for 21. Turanganiii,’. with a load of 80 on the first innings; totalled 123 in the second, to which Civil Service replied with only 35, losing hy 108 runs. City -sifting - together 307 for seven wickets before declaring their first innings; School, who had made 99 in their' first visit to the wickets, were all out for 45 in their second innings, City thus winning by an innings and 163 runs. C. Eraser (55 on the first day) carried his score to 106 not out, hitting ten fours in a fine display, A peculiar position has arisen in the match between Celtic and Poverty Bay. On the first day the latter side made 122, while on Saturday Celtic completed their first innings, the score-hook showing a total of 196, but the individual tallies giving 195. Joe Scholium 79 not out. (six' fours) and M. Guthrie 55 (si.v fours) made most of the runs. Poverty Bay, five men short, scored 75, J. Heasley playing a merry hand for 43 (eight boundaries). On the assumption that their first innings had produced 196, Celtic apparently required only two runs to win. These were duly obtained and stumps drawn about 5.15. The point at issue now is whether Celtic’s first innings total shall be taken as 196, giving them an outright win, or the actual runs scored, 195, he accepted, in which case the game would be a draw since each side has 197 to its credit. It would he very had luck indeed for Celtic should they miss eight points through an error in addition’ on the part of the scorer. At the meeting of the management committee of tho Poverty Bay Cricket Association last. <*.vening. il was resolved to ask for a ruling on the point from the New Zealand Council, Celtic being allotted eight points pending the. receipt of this. Saturday saw the second round of the competition completed and the teams will; now he regraded for the final round. Assuming that Celtic s awarded eight points for !i latest game, the sections for the final round, w th the points to ihe credit, of each team to date also given, will lie as follows: -V Section: Old Boys 39. Gisborne Club 35. City 32, Turangamu 25. B Section: Celtic 24, Poverty Bay 19. Civil Service 13, .S.chool 5. City and Turanganui have thus been elevated to A Section, while Celtic and Poverty Bay fall back to the B Section. • HONORS BOARD.' : —Batting.— C. Fraser (City) not out 106 J.
