Judging by his recent fdrill, Morgan lias improved. greatly since Ins debut in the professional ring, and ho is bound to prove a tough proposition for Reg. Trowern, the Avukland boxer against whom be will appear at Gisborne- on. Friday• night, 'the pair have .met on .one previous occasion, when they fought a draw at Grey mouth, and the Gisborne 'association feels that, it was fortunate to seocure. the return light between [hem. The important leature ,gf tile match, as a drawing attraction, is tbit. Morgayi is on ids way tip tin ladder ol boxing ianio, while 1 rowern lias almost exhausted the possibilities of'matches in New Zealand, and has had to go abroad to find opponents and. purses commensurate with his ability. To Morgan, a v<> tory over Trowern will represent, a decided advance tor the ex-amateur, while Trowern must regard the tight as most, serious one for himself, carrying the possibility of partial eclipse 'nr continued prosperity in tin' ring for him. Some good amateur bouts, have been arranged as preliminaries to tho professional match. These minor contests ave been specially selected. and should prove highly’enrertnining. A. Buckingham, of To Ivaraka, is to meet a new local ‘star’ in the heavyweight division, A. Steele, of Waipnoa; John Mc-Kay, of Gisborne, will meet R. Gregory, of Whatatufu, at lightweight limit ; Tsabeth. of Gisborne, and Dixon, of Tolaga. Bay, have been matched in the same class;'and Richardson and Waugh, two good local feathers, are also 1,0 meet in a preliminary bout. Two additional attractions will be the. meeting of Allan and Jones, both of Waipaoa. in a bantamweight contest, and the hour between J. McKay and Callaghan, both of Gisborne. in the'featherweight class.
