LONDON WOOL SALES. Messrs Murray, .Roberts and to. Ltd., are in receijit of the following cable from their London house under date 3th inst. : “Sales closed firm. Competition good from all sections. Homo buyer.i principal operators—good clearance. Compared with present London sales opening rates, crossbred greasy comeback, greasy fine, gootl style and breed, medium, good lust-ru and breed, advance 5 per cent. For other descriptions, the market shows no material change. Scoured advanced sto 7A per cent. Silpe crossbred best, par to 5 per cent advance. Other descriptions no change. 60/61’s N.Z. merino yielding 48 per cent, lid (lOjjd); 56’s yielding 60 per cent., 12d (ll4d); 50’s yielding 65 per cent lid (lOJd) ; 44/46’s prep, yielding 74 per cent. lOd (10jd) ; 44 '43’s earning yielding 72 per cent. IOAd (IQA'd) ■ 40/44’s yielding 73 per cent and 30/ 40’s yielding 75 per cent, practically none offering. Prices in brackets are the opening rates of tho present series.” The Bank of New Zealand is in receipt of the following cable, advice from their London office as at the 6th inst.: ‘’Sales closed firm for all kinds of wool. Demand improved, with prices steady. Current quotations: Merino super. 12d to 14d per b; ordinary IOAd to lid per lb; inferior, 8)d to lOd. Halfbred, 12)d to Ltd. Crossbred, fine lljd to 121 d; medium. 10£d to lid; coarse LOd to lOA’d.” Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd. have received the fol’owing cable from thciir head office ,dated 6th inst.: — “The London wool sales closed firm and active, with, brisk competition. All merinos average to good were 5 per cent to 7 per cent higher from owest point of the series. There was i strong demand by the Home trade for crossbreds. As compared with closing rates of last series: Greasj N.Z. merinos, none offered; A.ustra ian merinos, 2jd lower to 3.V lowter, scoured merinos, Id to 5d lower, greasy half-bred 2LI to 3J<l lower. Few fine sorts offered. Greasy crosstired fine, 3d to 3) lowjen; greasy crossbred medium, 3d to 3jd lower, ;reasy crossbred coarse, 2fd to 3?,d lower; scoured, 3Jd to 4jd lower; slipe 3d to 5:1 lower; lambs, greasy, 2jd to 3.Jd. There were 127,161 bales offered. Home trade have bought 51.000 bales, Continent 42,000. America 1000. Carried forward, 65,000 bales of which 45,000 were not offered.
