WELLINGTON, Feb. 0. - A strong plea was mado by His Excellency the s Governor-General .Sir Charles Fergusson at the mens’ farewell tq.-nig!ii:, to the peo-‘ pie of New Zealand .to buy New Zealand.mado goods, saying they would be astonished, at the difference it would make to the wellbeing of the country, and liow far it, would go towards solving the difficulty of unemployment. “I wonder if I may disgress lor a moment to say a 'few words which I should like to say before i leave New Zealand,” said His Kxcelloney. “I believe very shortly that there is going to be launched a great apj>oal to the people of New Zealand to support their own industries and to buy New Zea-land-made goods. (Applause.) lam not going to dwell long on that point. I would only like to say n we could only support those industries as they should be supported. what a difference it would make in the life of the country, how much (employment it would give, and how far it would go towards solving that difficult problem. May f make an appeal to you to give preference always itu New Zealand goods. (Hear, hear and applause); failing New Zealand goods British goods, and failing Britishgoods Empire goods (Renewed applause)'. And 1 ido believe irom what I have seen of the industries of this country, that if only you would patronise and ask for New Zealand goods you would be astonished at the range and quality of what is being manufactured m this country, and of which a groat many people at present know very little. (Applause).
