The air accidents investigation committee at Melbourne nus report, ed regarding the seaplane tragedy on January 6 in which Captain the Hon. Hugh Grosvenoi- FlightLieutenant Briggs , and Leading Aircraftsman Ewen were killed. The report states that the flight was undertaken to give Captain Grosvenoi' instruction in the operation of an amphibian machine, which was being flown under dual control. Authority had noft-- been obtained to make the flight under such conditions, and the flight was quite unauthorised. There was no evidence of engine failure or structural defect, and the accident apparently was due to some crisis iu. the course of the instruction. The board recommends £SCO compensation each for the widows of Flight. Lieut. Briggs and Aircraftsman Ewen.
