DUNEDIN. Fob. 5. In the Supreme Court to-dav, before Mr. Justice Kennedy. Charles Free was charged with, at Oaniain attempting to carnally know a girl under 12 years of age. After,hearing evidence, the jury brought in a verdict of guilty of indecent assault and accused was remanded for sentence on Friday. Theobald Matthew Stephen Lawless was charged with, in June last carnally knowing a <drl under the age of 10 year s at Tomahawk. In the course of. evidence of a most revolting oh a racier tin 1 girl concerned denied m'sconduct with the accused, and the jury, by His Honor's direction, returned a verdict of not guilty.
