TAKAPUNA RACES DESERT GLOW WINS BIG Handicap AUCKLAND, Jan. 31. The Takapuna Jockey Club’s summer meeting concluded to-day. The weather was fine. There was a good attendance. The totalisator put through £39,100 compared with £53,962 on the corresponding day last pear. The grand total for the meeting was £97,313 against £116,689 10s last year. Following are the result^: Moana Handicap.—2 Cantab (H. Lee) 1, 4 Alonsoa 2, 5 King Arch 3. Also started: 1 King Emerald, 6 Wyoming, 9 Bright Comet, 3 Day Taro, 10 Clockwork, 7 Abbey Day, a Salamander, 11 Queen Abbey. Won by threequarters of a length and a length. Daytaro was fourth. Waiwera High Weight Handicap.— 3 Kamehameha (Carmont) 1, 5 Ngarara 2,2 Uralla 3. Also started: Royal Form (coupled with Uralla), 4 Hangawera, 1 Rangitahi, 8 Dead Sweet, 7 Praiseworthy, 9 Sea Comet, 6 Day Bell. Won by a neck and a -head. Hangawera was fourth. Time, 2.27.

NOTTS ON THE RACING (Special to the Times.) AUCKLAND, Jan. 31. The summer meeting of the Takapuna Jockey Club concluded at Devonport to-day. The weather, with.,the exception of a couple of showers, was fine, but there was only a fair attendance. In the Moana Handicap with which proceedings commenced, King Emerald carried £3)5 more than Cantab, while Daytaro was next fancied. Cantab led all the way. He held his position across the top from'King Arch, King Emerald, Alonsoa, Daytaro, and Wyoming. Cantab was the first to turn for home followed by Alonsoa King Arch, King Emerald and Daytaro and going on won by threequarters of a length from Alonsoa, who beat King Arch by a length. Daytaro was fourth and then came Ivrhg Emerald, Wyoming, White Comet and Salamander. The stewards held- an inquiry into alleged interference to King Emerald, and C. Davies, rider of King Arch, was suspended for a month. He will, appeal against the- decision. \ll paraded for the Waiwera High-Veio-ht Handicap, and Rangitahi war: made about a £3OO better favorite than the bracket Royal Form and Uralla, while there was also good support for Kamehameha. .Along the back Praiseworthy, Day Bell and Uralla were together, followed by Kamehameha, Sea Comet, Hangawera and Rangitahi. Before the top was reached Uralla had taken charge from Kamehameha, Hangawera, Day Bell and Rangatalii. Uralla was the first to turn for home from Kamehameha, Hangawera, Ngarara and Rangatahi. Kamehameha then drew out and Ngarara came fast on the outside. In a good finish Kamehameha got the decision by a neck from, Ngarara, who beat Uralla by a head. At the distance Tea Dell, Aurumavis and Aussie, who had been a good way back, came through and in a- good finish Aurumavis got the decision by a neck from Tea Dell, who beat Aussie by the same distance. York Abbey was fourth followed by Dan Quin, Delightment, Archeno, Hying Juliot, Ned Kelly and Archeno. "Muscari and Thursby failed to keep their engagements for the Takapuna Handicap. Eden Hall was about £IOO better backed than Town Bank, while Transformer and Desert Glow were next fancied. Going past the stewards’ stand, Papatu was attended by Eden Hall, Desert Glow, Lard Star, Transformer, Town Bank, Spoony, Barometer and Quincoma Dy the time the bade was reached Transformer liad run to the front, from Papatu, Eden Hall, Lord Star, Desert Glow, Town Bank and Spoony. Paganelli was the fust to turn for home from Exalted, In the Shade, and Speechless, and in a good finish Paganelli got the decision by a long head from In the Shade, who beat Speechless by a length and a-half. Exalted was fourth, followed by Auriculus. Te Koroke was made about a £4OO better favorite than Golden Krist for the Rangitoto Hack Handicap while Wenday was best backed of the others engaged. Arch Queen led along the back and across the top from Star Comet, Maveelish, hameliamelia, Golden Krist arid Te Koroke. Kamehameha was r lie ni\st to turn for home from Star Come:;, Maveeilsli and Golden Krist. Golden Krist then put in his claim and got up in time to dead heat wirli Karoekameha. Antrim Boy was in charge across the top with Pelham, Scat, Ring the Bell, Miss Veia and Charlady next. The week-end bottling tournament played off at Tolaga Bay concluded yesterday when Hueston (Gisborne) beat Jenkins (Kahutia) in the final gfter a most interesting and keenly contested game. Give and take play followed up till the ninth head, when the score was! 10—4 Hueston on the next three heads scored 3,2, and 2, and although on the 15th head Dudfield scored 4, Hueston maintained his lead throughout, the final .score .being 23—20 in the Gisbornite (Hueston’s) favor. The main feature of the game was the consistent playing rf I (auburn, No. 2 for Dudfield, and the accurate dn' ing of Stephenson, pi lying No. 3 for Hueston. Al tlie dose of the play the president, Mr G. A. Neill, in an appropriate speech, presented t the trophies, calling for cheers for the winners.
