HARBOR BOARD
MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly "meeting of the Gisborne Harbor Board, which was held yesterday was attended by the the chairman Mr. W. G. Sherratt, and Messrs. G. Smith, A. C. Steele, C. H. Williams, T. Todd, I. Mirfield, C. E. Armstrong, W. J. Holdsworth, R. Scott, T. Quirk, T. Cforson, J. B, Brondhurst and A. H. Wallis. In his report on maintenance work oil the harbor undertaken during tire month, the engineer Mr. It. Campbell reported that: —The Board’s weighbridge was going under annual survey. The dredger John Townley had undergone her annual survey, since when she has been litted with reclamation pumping gear. Grab Dredge No.l had been utilised between the training wall and Kaiti wharf, also as floating crane. Grab dredge No. 2 had been slipped for repairs for punt, also engaged as floating crane. Minor repairs as required had been carried out to wharves, sheds, lights, etc. The report was adopted. The advisory committee reported that they had authorised the acceptance of G. Brown’s tender at l/11-)d per cubic yard (being the lowest of eight tenders) to excavate approximately 6,000 c. yds. of spoil required in connection with the formation of the new Kaiti Esplanade Road. Also the acceptance of A. Kirk’s tender at £486 ss. (being lowest of eight tenders) for the construction of a triple culvert (not including the pipes' under the new Kaiti Esplanade Road. The engineer was authorised to order from Messrs Poole and Steel of Sydney, six new buckets, for the dredge Korua.. The report was adopted.
