Feeling reference to the death, of Mr. D. Jamison, an ex-member of the Harbor Board was made by the chairman of the Board, Mr. W. G. Sherratt at the monthly meeting yesterday, when a motion of condolence with the relatives was carried, members standing in silence. Air. Joseph Dalton, Native Agent, passed through Gisborne yesterday on his way to Taranaki, having been engaged by Ngati-Buanui and NgatiAwa tribes to appear on their behalf before the Boyai Commission axis, has been appointed to inquire into the question of confiscation. The death of a lady passenger, Mrs. E. Wheeler, of Auckland, occurred during the voyage of the Niagara from Vancouver to Auckland, states an Auckland P.A. message. Mrs. Wheeler, who was returning home after a world tour, was in poor health when she joined the steamer, and died four days out from Vancouver.—P.A. The death occurred at Wellington yesterday of Mr. A. K. Harris, General Superintendent of Transportation in the New Zealand Railways Department. He died on the day of his retirement on superannuation after 42 years’ service. Mr. Harris joined as a cadet in Auckland in 1854 passing through many positions and serving in Papakurn. Auckland. Wanganui. Christchurch. Dunedin, and Wellington districts.—P.A. A gloom was cast over the complement of the Northumberland day when it became known that a on- *- det named Bayne who had been removed to Cook Hospital last Thursday morning, had passed away. He is understood to have been suffering from pneumonia and pleurisy. The funeral will be held to-day and a party of twenty-six are .to come ashore at 9.30 this morning to represent the vessel and act as pallbearers. An exceptionally large number of guests hare been in residence at the Hot Springs Hotel, Morere, during the week.
