HAWKE’S BAY RAM FAIR. HASTINGS, Jan. 27. The annual Hawke’s Bay ram fanopened to-day in perfect weather, when 3818 Romneys were offered to a fair attendance of buyers. Bidding opened weak, improving '.iter, but towards the close many lots were passed in. The balance of the Romneys, totalling 1909, will be offered to-morrow, succeeded by various breeds and flocks, and Saturday will be devoted to studs. The top price for Romneys to-day was 131 guineas for a line of Jd shearlings sold on account of Mr David Smith, Masterton. The total entries are 7537 against 6506 last year.—P.A.
