SHEEPSKIN, TALLOW AND HI Oil REPORT.
Messrs Murray, Roberts and Co report : At our usual fortnightly sale ol sheepskins,.'hides and tallow we submitted a moderate sized catalogue or all classes to a representative attendance of buyers. Sheepskins •’ There was a keen’ demand for dry skins, and we found prices generally to id per lb. better than late rates, fine wools coming in for special attention. Saltcds sold on a par with previous quotations. Hides: Hood enquiry for all descriptions. Well prepared parcels were keenly sought after and values for heavies, mediums and light weights were par to id better than last sale’s rates. Kip and yearling sold well, and may be quoted par to id better, while calf showed an advance of id to id per lb. Tallow: Good shipping parcels were in request prices showing a decline of 1/- per cwt. CLEARING SALE EBAY STATION CATTLE AND HORSES Yesterday at Matawliero yards the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Co., Ltd., submitted to auction a largo entry of cattle and horses on behalf of the Reay station account: Light horses were offered first and evoked fair competition at easy prices. Sven 3-year-year-olds by Multrine, brought from £2 10s to £4; 4year-okl unbroken made from £1 5s to £4 10s; and 6-year-old unbroken up to £5; 3 2-year-olds 255; yearlings made from 12s 6d to £3 2s 6d. Draughts met with tetter competition. A 2-year-old colt by Royal Wilde. sold at £l3 15s; 4 4-vear-olds, unbroken, of a good stamp, made from £l7 to £24 10s. A 9-year-old mare was sold, broken to chains, for £lB, and two aged mares, broken to all work, sold at £l7 and £24 ss. A stallion by Multione out of a Basuto mare fetched £7. Fat cattle: 1 cow £3 10s, 2 cows £4 10s; 2 cows £3 12s 6d; 4 heifers £3 17s 6d; 2 cows £4; 1 bullock (p) £10; 2 heifers (p) £3 2s 6d; 1 cow £4 15s; 1 voaler £1 12s 6d; 2 cows £4; 3 cows (p) £3 12s 6d; 2 heifers £3 ; 2 Jersey cows £3 7s 6d; 1 Hereford bullock £7 15s; 1 P.A. bullock £6; 3 bullocks £9 10s; 1 bullock £8 12s 6d. CHEAPER FLOUR FOR SYDNEY. SYDNEY, Jan. 23. The price of flour for local consumption has been reduced by 10s, to £l2 10s per ton. The export price is unchanged.—U.P.A. LONDON MARKETS. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agenev C'o.. Ltd., have received tile following cablegram from their Loudon house, under date Jan. 19:— Tallow.—Fine mutton 38s per cwt; good beef, 38s per cwt. : mixed 37s per cwt. ; market firm. Dairy produce (last quotations in parentheses).—Butter: New Zealand, controlled, quotations unchanged; very slow ; havers holding off (172 s to 1745. Cheese.—Market steady. Quotations unchanged. Colored (945), white 1.745). LONDON MEAT MARKET. The New Zealand Loan and Mor cantile Agency Ca., Ltd., have re ceived the following cablegram from I their London office under date Janj nary 21:—New Zealand frozen meat: Lamb, new season, 91d per lb (average); mutton,- -fd per lb lower.
