LINCOLNS NOT WANTED. GOOD DEMAND FOll SOUTHDOWNS. Before a small attendance of buy--1 ers yesterday the Poverty Bay Stockbrokers’ Association held the final day of their annual ram fair. Approximately -550 Lincolas, 180 Southdown and 42 Border Leicester rams were submitted for auction. . LINCOLNS. Immediately the auctioneers turned their attention to Southddwns the tone of the sale changed. Tat laino breeders were in evidence and competition was keen. The standard of the sheep submit ted was high and pens from H. E. Fincliam (Canterbury) and It. Bremer (AVaVerlev) left little to be desired from a quality point of view. Chas. Matthews, a local breeder, also submitted several high quality sheep, one pen of 2-shear realising < Jgns. B) Bremer (Waverley) topped the market with a pen ol 1-shear Southdowns which passed to Chas. Matthews at ligns.-The biggest, buyer was S. Reeves, who was responsible for 27 rams, averaging over 9gns., being trucked to his Tolaga Bay station. Few lines were passed in and even in those instances the margin to the reserve was not great.
