AN ENJOYABLE TRIP
TOUR OF NORTH ISLAND BY MAYOR AND MAYORESS STRIKING- PROGRESS OF-TOWNS WITH HARBORS Accompanied by the Mayoress, the Mayor. Mr Geo. Wildish, has just completed a delightful X’ound trip or the North Island. Taking the Rotorua route lor Auckland the travellers reached the northern city a week ago yesterday and alter spending a few days there returned through Taranaki via the Awakino Valley. The return tourney Was made in company, with Mr Fred Wilkinson and a party and some very fine scenery was seen on. the route. , Auckland was left on Thursday, and Mr and Mrs Wildish reached New Plymouth the same night. They continued their journey the following morning, passing through Wanganui, and arriving at Napier ' on Friday night. The final departure was made on Saturday morning and at 12.45 p.m. on Saturday Mr and Mrs Wildish reached Gisborne once more. The visit to Wanganui and Taranaki was of particular interest to Mr Wildish,'and both ho and Mrs Wildish were surprised at the remarkable progress of those places, which from a municipal point of view, received much attention from the visitors. Mi- Wildish was confident that both towns, particularly Now Plymouth, owed its success to the progress of the harbor and lie felt assured that the harbor works in Gisborne would have a similar beneficial effect on the town. Whilst in Auckland Mr and Mis 1 Wildish concluded arrangements for the acquisition of their new home in Granga road, Mt. Eden, which they -Were fortunate in securing in exchange for their Gisborne residence.
