NEW INSTITUTION FOR GISBORNE.

For . a long time past the need of a Catholic .-School for teaching boy pupils after passing the fourth standard,’ has been felt in Gisborne, hut that requirement is shortly- to be filled in the form of a Marist Bros, school for pupils a from Standards 5 and 6 to the junior high school course. On the proposal to erect a new St. Mary’s school, application was made by the Catholic Church authorities to the head of the Marist Bros, organisation to establish a school here. This request has now been complied with, and the school is to he conducted in the eld St. Mary’s school at the corner of Lowe Street and Childers Road, for boys from standards 3 and 6 up to conclusion of the junior high school standard. The school will he conducted by two Marist Bros. who will take up residence in one of- the buildings in Carnarvon Street on the church property.
