“CHARLEY’S Those who attend should have the happiest times of their lives when they see Syd. Chaplin in “Charley s Aunt” at the Opera House to-mor-row 1 night. “Charley’s Aunt” is the greatest comedy ever made. Charley Wykeham and his mates invited their sweethearts to. meet Charley’s Aunt from Brazil. Aunty missed the train, so they made another friend impersonate her. The girls’ guardian, Stephen Spettigue, knows that if the girls marry, his fees will tfe discontinued, so he made preparations to ’ take them over to Scotland that night. Things were not So bad when old Spettigue made love to Charley’s aunt; but when his own sweetheart turned up with the real aunt there was fun. Screamingly funny complications set in between old Spettigue, the girls 1 father, Charley’s a.unt and the bogus aunt. Syd. Chaplin plays the title role, and is supported by a brilliant cast of players. “Charley’s Aunt” is said to he one of the “high spots” in motion pictures. It is the biggest "pHze the picture industry has ever offered, and Syd. Chaplin has never had a role which, he has portrayed as he has this one. Twenty thousand pounds is the amount of money paid for the screen rights of this famous 1 play by Branda Thomas. The-picture is greater in every way than the play.
