SILENCE
WHERE IS FAWCETT? ANXIETY AT I-lOME. LONDON, January 12 “Where is Colonel P. H. Fawcett?” asks the “Daily News,” which emphasises that the explorer’s last message was dated May 30, 1925. Prior to entering the Brazilian jungle, occupied by cave-dwelling cannibals, 'Colonel Fawcett said: “Don’t count on any more despatches, as recent trouble with the Indians makes communication precarious.” Five months still remain of the two years during which Colonel Fawcett told his friends not to worry, but the Royal Geographical Society is most anxious regarding him. Dr. W. M. McGovern, the wellknown explorer, who has returned; from Brazil, discovered no trace or Colonel Fawcett, and the society lias told volunteers that it is not considering a relief expedition, as the location of the explorers in the jungle is almost an impossibility. With Colonel Fawcett are his 23-year-old son Jack and Mr. Raleigh Kimmell, aged 25 years.
