The Minister of Health has received a cablegram from the High Commissioner stating that ‘the iniiuenza figures show an increase in the number of deaths. In England in 105 great towns, including London, the deaths totalled 326 for the week ended January 15.' The deaths in the County of London were 137 and in Greater London were 233. The notifications of pneumonia are 1867, showing a slight decrease. So far as London is chiefly affected, the type of disease is mild. Complications are rare and are confined principally to children and the aged. On the Continent practically no change is prevalent. In France and Switzerland influenza cases are decreasing, but Germany reports an increase but generally of a mild type. Although Europe is generally affected influenza is not prevalent in Austria and the Irish Free State.—P.A.
