ARMISTICE DAY
TWO MINUTES’ SILENCE
WELLINGTON, Nov. 6. Tuesday next is to be observed as in past years by two minutes’ silence. A cablegram received by His Excellency tfio Governor-General, from the Secretary of State for the Colonies, a copy of which has been sent by the Government to all local bodies, states: “His Majesty has approved the following arrangement for the observance in this country of armistice Day, November 11: (1) A short service will he held at the Cenotaph on the lines adopted in previous years, including the hymn ■‘O God Our Help in Ages Past.” His Aiajesty the King, will be present and will lay a wreath on the cenotaph ; (2) two minutes’ silence will be observed at 11 a.m. Local authorities in ' this country will be asked to arrange for the suspension of all vehicular traffic for tuo minutes from 11 a.m., hut rail and water transport will not be suspended.”—P.A
The Mayor (Mr CL Wildish) received a message from the Prime Aiinister yesterday to the same effect.
