HAURAKI PLAINS BILL.

AMENDMENTS NOT INSISTED

WELLINGTON, Nov. 5. The Legislative Council met at 10.30 to-day. . It was decided not to insist upon the amendments made in the Hauraki Plains County Council Empowering Bill with which the House disagreed. The Egmont National Park Bill was put through its .final stages and passed with the deletion of a clause, empowering the Trustees to invest in the Boards securities. The Honey Export Control Bill, the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Amendment Bill. Industries 'Conciliation and Arbitration Amendment 1351 and Legislature Amendment Bill (No. 2) were received, from the House put through all stages and passed with minor amendments, the lastnamed after surviving the proposed deletion of the clause relating to compulsory registration of electoi s which was defeated by II votes ff> 6The “Washing Up” Bill was reported with amendments and passed. New clauses were inserted adding two additional members to the Tongariro National Park Board to be ajv pointed by the Governor-General, and validating a license under the Mining Act for the dam at Ivaiwaru Faffs. The Council agreed to a conference with the Representatives or the House on the CViwthron Institute. The Council adjourned at 1 p.m. till 2.30 p.m. The Council met at 2.30 and adjourned after discussion on the library report until 8.30, when it was reported thatr,the conference on the Cawthron Trust Bill had failed to reach an agreement. The Hon. J. Mclntyre asked it the Council could discuss tho report of the managers. Sir Francis Bell rep.ied that nothing further could lie done.
