OBITUARY.

MR. JAMES*BARR.

The death occurred at an early hour yesterday morning of a wellknown resident of Gisborne, 51 r Jus. Barr. Mr Barr, who resided at 125 .Roebuck Road, had been ailing for some time, but was feeling better when lie retired on Monday night. Shortly after 5 o’clock yesterday morning lie robed over in his bed. Dr. Angel! was called in, but it was too late. Mr Barr had been receiving treatment at Cook Hospital tor some tape and the Medical Superintendent. Dr. Ross, lias issued a certificate that death was due to heart, .failure. , . Mr Barr was horn in Scotland in 1860, and came to New Zealand m ISSI. first residing m Christchurch. Later he removed “to Wellington and was a partner in the well-known firm of Mainland and Barr. Afterwards lie came to Gisborne, and for the past twelve years had occupied the position of foreman builder lor Mr. Geo. .Smith. He was a highly esteemed member of the Presbyterian Church, and was also a member of the I'oieslers’ Lodge. Mr Barr took a keen interest in educational matters and for some \eais was a member of the Gisborne School Committee. The deceased leaves a w.di.w and lorn ■daughters. Mrs O. V. Church, Mrs J Harrison and Misses Clara and Enid Barr, to whom sincere sympathy will he extended. The funeral w:il'. take place at Taiuheru cemetery this afternoon.
