MISSING GIRL EE-APPEARS. AUCKLAND. Nov. a. Elsie May Lane, the girl reported to have disappeared from the Supreme Court on Wednesday, called at Mount Eden gaol and stated she had been safely housed by the Salvation Army. She was to have been an important witness in a criminal assault case from Yvaihi, but her evidence was unnecessary 7 as the accused man pleaded guilty. MYSTERY OF LOSSES SOLVED. WELLINGTON, Nov.. 3. Investigation into the losses of sheep and lambs in the Ohakunc district, pub down to stoats or weasels, shows it was the work of dogs. Ino judge said the case had been one of grave trouble to him, and 119 could not possibly grant probation in the fnco' of what was happening' in New Zealand at the present time, although accused’s case presented exceptional character. Dr Campbell B egg’s statements at Palmerston -North about the inefficiency of hospitals and the neglect of Boards to consult honorary medical staffs, was given an emphatic contradiction this morning by Mr Knight chairman, of the Otago Board and by-senior members of the honorary staff.
