NEW INFANT SCHOOL
NECESSITY AT GISBORNE
SCHOOL
PRESENT BUILDING INADEQUATE.
The accommodation for the _ infant classes in the school building in Palmerston road is now overtaxed to such a great extent that the Gisborne school committee at the monthly meeting on Friday evening decided to ask the Hawke’s Bay Education Board to provide a new school for the infants. The old building has been in use for over 50 years and is antiquated and inadequate for present requirements. The committee unanimously expressed I he opinion that the existing buildig was completely out-of-date, and should be replaced by a new building designed on modern lines. It was pointed out that many of the forms and much of the equipment were in use 40 years ago and committeemen remarked that the. building had Die appearance of being an old one, oven at that date. It was decided to make application to the Board for a substantial grant to provide for the erection of new premises adequate to the requirements of the town.
