GAOL FOR DE VALERA
ENTERS NORTH IRELAND WiTH-
OUT ORDER,.
(Received Nov. 2. 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, Nov. 1. De Valera at Belfast was sentenced to a month’s imprisonment in the second division for entering North Ireland in contravention of Government order. The prosecutor said that an order of the Home Secretary under the Civil Authorities Powers Act was served on De Valera on Oct. 2-5 at the Achivoyle railway station prohibiting him entering the polling areas in North Ireland, but De Valera was seen tho following evening and arrested. De Valera declined to piead, not recognising the authority of the •Court which, he declared, was the “creature of a foreign power” and therefore not sanctioned by tho Irish people. . The resident Magistrate said he was unable to listen to a political speech, which was a mere clonk for contempt of the Court. —Reuter. _
