The 1) ischarged Soldiers’ Settle ment Amendment Bill was intro dueed to-dnv.
Provision is made whereby the Dominion Re-valuation Board is empowered to deal with any application for a re-valuation, which was received too late, hut which was in the course of transit to the Dominion Board within the time prescribed. Provision is aso made whereby the Board can, in the case of mortgages given as security for improvements, stock, etc., reduce the amount owing under the mortgage and direct that any part of such mortgage can he transferred to a suspense account free of interest for any pericr not exceeding three years.
Provision is made whereby, in cases of realisation of securities under power of sale, the Minister, on the recommendation of a Land Board, may write off such amount as represents the excess of the mortgage debt ever the amount realised and thus free the mortgagor from any further liability under the personal covenants of his mortgage. Provision is made whereby the values of buildings on settlement land based to discharged soldiers can be reduced as from Ist July, 1921, or from the date of the lease, whichever is the later.
Bower is given whereby discharged soldiers who" hold small grazing run leases of Crown and Settlement land can obtain an extension of their leases for any period not exceeding ten years.—Special.
