DEEP CUP IN NECK
FATHER ALSO INJURED.
An exciting incident occurred \ n one of the sideshows r.t the Show yesterday, the Africander Lion Tiger Taming Show. Inside the tent a wooden barrier fa erected some two or three feet from the big iron inside of which the tamer perform* Jiis work. At the conclusion of one show at about 4.30 the animals as usual were released from the cages into the iron ring. Amongst the spectators was Mr G. 11. Burge-s, of M a „_ ga-kin'o, near Ruha. He was acton k panied by his wife and three-year-olil son. In order to allow the Hub, fy. low to have a good view of Uk-" animals, Mr. Burgess, with the boy in liis arms, rested on the harrier. ‘The little chart leaned forward and suddenly a lioness, with lightning-JilM - speed, shot out a paw and the claws caught the child in the neck. Mr Burgess quickly > threw his hunch round the child’s neck, ami ihr-n j„ an instant out shot the other paw, inflicting wounds on Mr. Burgess’ two hands, 'The sufferers were rc-mov-fl - 0 the ambulance room. It was found the child had a deep cut on the r.efir. After receiving medical attention, MflT' Burgess and his son were removed to hospital.

On the Show Grounds ye'-tc:trv n mishap occurred to Mr. Ned geralo. who was riding Faggot in tl.e open leaping competition. At the first- fence the horse j.bl.-H and M-. Fitzgerald came off, i>reak:r.g a bene just below the ankle.
