Fitzpatrick in the Police Court yesterday morning in reference to James McKay who pleaded guilty to a charge of using threatening behaviour so as to cause a breach of the peace. “When in the passage way lie wanted to fight all and sundry until a constable; came along and arrested him, thus avoiding further trouble.” a The Magistrate: You are not' able to pay your debts but can go drinking?
McKay: No! The Magistrate: It certainly looks like it.
McKay: My wife gave mo £1 and told me. to take, a Is, and I got 19s change. The Magistrate: Do you mean to .say you got drunk on Is ? • (Laughter.) I’ll give you a chance. You’ll be convicted and ordered .to come up for sentence if called uxjou in six months.
