George Young has been definitely engaged to ride Spearfelt in the Derby. ,Melbourne Cup scratchings include Whittier, Euglefield, Easing wold, All Sunshine, Yacamunda and Harvest King. Acceptances fon the Onp and Cantala, Stakes close to-morrow. The New Zealanders Gun-case, Mountain Lion- and The Harp are still in. ... There was net a great deal of fast work yesterday morning, work being done on the Park and at Makaraka.
, Heather Sprig and Mann Pango Worked steadily on the plough. Voltore, Pita and Blue Jay did easy pacing on the plough. Kilroe, carrying a. good weight, easily held Rowley, going about five furlongs. Porcto, White. Hope and Sangfroid ■all worked steadily on the plough. Sempliee and Serenade also worked steadily. This will probably he the last work at the Park till after the meeting. Startle, Birka, Waireka, General Carrington, Polyphemus, Crisis and Leviathan were all out before breakfast.
Ginger Mick and Hinetapora were also among the early risers. There was not a great deal of fast work after breakfast. 0. Morse’s team* was restricted to light work on the- plough, with the exception of Highway, who- ran homo fast from the six furlongs mark. Sweet Heather ran half a mile in 50-2-sscc, carrying a big weight. _ Tecbir did about the same, running the last three furlongs in slightly under 37. Kero Kero went twice on the plough at half-pace. Sunlike cantered once- round and ran home fast from the three furlongs in 40-scc. Princess Nata did steady work. Chosen’s task was of the lightest. A two-year-old sister to Kingly and a Cynic—Red Edna colt cantered and trotted twice’.
