MENT,
GOVERNMENT IN A QUANDARY.
United Press Association —Copyright.
(Received Oct. 27, S p.m.) OTTAWA, Oct. 2G. Five years-:ago, Ontario adopted temperance legislation by a majority of 400.000, but sentiment in favor of the sale of liquor from Government stores, the same as in Quebec and British Columbia has been growing. A new vote that has been taken resulted in a decision to retain the present legislation by 00,000. The cities voted overwhelmingly “wet” and the country “dry.” ; The Government, is now faced'with a quandary. With the cities demanding liouor and making it almost impossible to administer the “dry” laws some form of local option may be inaugurated.—Reuter.
