MURDERER TRICKED

DOCTOR STRANGLES FATHER-

IN-LAW

VICTIM’S WRIST ARTERIES CUT TO LOOK LIKE SUICIDE. BUDAPEST, Oct. 23. Police tricked Dr. Fiohreieh, whom they suspected of having killed his father-jn-iaw, Egyedi, a wealthy Hungarian land owner, into a confession of murder by pretending they believed him innocent. After a few days n detective suddenly came to Frohreich’s room, seized him by the shoulder, and angrily exclaimed “You are deceiving us. . Did you murder your father-in-law?” Frohreich was taken abrek and muttered something about his wife and small boy. A detective quickly called in the wife, telling her that her husband wanted to confess. The wife threw herself into her husband’s arms, saying. “Tell everything; I will forgive.”

Frohreich brokenly described how lie went to his miserly iather-in-lnw to ask hi in to help one of liis daughters, who ‘was a penniless widow. Egyedi refused to help, goading Frohreich into a fight, in which the old man was strangled.

The horror-stricken Frohreich p:eked up a razor in order to commit suicide by cutting liis wrist arteries, when lie thought of the plan of cutting Egyedi’s wrists to make it appeal- that the latter had committed suicide. -The phm was apparently successful as a doctor granted a certificate of suicide, but the police were suspicious.—A. and N.Z.C.A.
