Rollicking humor, bright and colorful music and unlimited scope tor charming and spectacular effects aic contained m “Florodora’ , wniCii is to be staged bv the Gisborne Amateur Operatic “ Society during Carnival Week. The Society now has performers of talent and experience and, under the able guidance of Mr Theodore Treaise, have made a noteworthy ady a nee from the point of view ox performance. The music of b lurodora, b} Leslie Stuart, is generally recognised tc, he better than that of lighter musical works and such numbeis .ns “Somebody,” “Silver Star of Love i< ‘Neath the Shade of the Palm”, and “The Girl of the Philippine Islands” will strongly appeal to all loveri ol music. There, arc many tripping light numbers and the comedy is very droll with smart snappy libretto. The artists responsible for the scenery, dresses and wardrobe have certainly displayed the artistic sense, which has only to be seen to be endorsed by fliesitre-goers. An efficient orchestra under the conductorship of Mr Lawrence will be anoilier pleasing feature of the production. Much reserving of scats has taken place, but there are. still plenty of excellent ones available and tbo box plans are now open at Miller’s Corner.
