AIATAAVHFRO STOCK SALES
The fortnightly stock sale was hold yesterday at. the Matawhero stock yards. There was an. excellent demand for all kinds of stock, sheep realising specially good prices. The present large demand for mutton and wool has encouraged the local
farmers to go in more extensively than ever for sheep-raising. There was a good offering ef about 13,000 sheep and 450 head of cattle, the firms of Williams and Kettle, Loan and Mercantile, and Murray, Roberts and Co. yarding tho majority. The other firms who sold were Common, Shelton and Co., Dalgety and Cd., and Bennett, and Sherratt. The following sales wore made on behalf of the different companies : FAT STOCK. 37 old ewes 18s lOd, 13 do. 17s 6d, 19 do. 18s 3d, 68 ewes 17s 6d, 10 do. 18s lOd, 14s do. 17s, 10 wethers 245, 44 owes 23s 2d, 36 owes 17s, 20 ewes 17s 6d, 39 do. 18s, 5 wethers 365, 6 woolly hoggets 22s 3d. i FAT CATTLE. There was only a fair demand for dairy cattle, but station cattle realised splendid prices. LONDON WOOL SALES. Dalgety and Company, Ltd., have received a cablegram from London saying that owing to the weakness,ol’ market and congestion at the docks and warehouses, importers decided to close wool sales mi 21th July. The sixth series opens on 7th September, list of arrivals closing on 24tli July. Good merinos, best line crossbreds, good demand; other sorts dragging badly, especially shabby crossbreds which are 7.) to 10 per cent lower than highest point of series.
