Sir Geo. Reid’s annual report for 1914 states that the loss of revenue on the Pacific Cable was between £40,000 and £50,000, due to the damage to the Fanning Island. Station by a German cruiser, the damage alone amounting to £IO.OOO. The decrease in immigration to Australia was 12.9 per cent, to New Zealand 14.7, and to Canada 48,9. as compared with 1913. _____
